As Senior Director of Engineering  you will be a leader on the Bridge Office centralized resource team and will be responsible for engineering operations programs and policies across our national portfolio.  You will manage overall engineering technology platforms that enable efficient service delivery, ensure the meeting of key performance indicators (KPIs) and maintain alignment for tracking and reporting of requirements. 

  • Mentor and lead team of directors of engineering, building engineers and property managers in engineering operations across the Bridge Office vertical.
  • Develop and execute Engineering management strategy for real estate portfolio, including implementing programs to achieve engineering operating goals and targets by agreed timelines. Includes ESG, building certifications, energy audits, sustainability programs or similar.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the operations and construction design guidelines, process improvements, and program upgrades across multiple commercial assets.  
  • Evaluate and present to leadership financial impacts of engineering efforts and the viability of projects for budgeting and approval.
  • Advise, coach, and support building and construction staff (property managers, engineers, technicians) in identifying, scoping, and implementing engineering operating improvements.
  • Be an internal subject matter expert at Bridge and for the commercial office team on risk management and safety, building system operation, code compliance processes, energy optimization, indoor environmental quality, materials and resources, and capital planning in the built environment and develop training programs around these areas.
  • Collaborate with other internal and external engineering managers to develop best practices and case studies for the overall and long-term benefit of the firm.
  • Improve the sustainability and health of facilities in line with industry best practices such as LEED, WELL, FitWel and beyond.
  • Experience and knowledge of infrastructure components, optimization, and MEP and BMS systems in new buildings, retrofits, and construction of tenant spaces.
  • Continually monitor industry trends, evaluate new products and services for value potential, and participate in industry working groups. Lead pilot tests of cutting-edge engineering solutions.
  • Establish a positive rapport with both property staff and management to ensure a high level of customer service.
  • Support the hiring process to recruit and retain top engineering talent.
  • Actively participate in the acquisition and disposition process by evaluating property conditions and/or coordinating specialty consultants, developing capital budgets, and presenting findings and recommendations.
  • Travel along with virtual collaboration.  
  • Participate in property team administration and performance assessments, including regular reviews, training and development plans.

What you should bring

  • 10+ years of experience with engineering operations supervision and program development at portfolio level in Commercial Real Estate and Life Science Real Estate.
  • A BS degree in a related field
  • Proficient knowledge of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, building automation and control systems across a variety of building types including commercial offices, Life Science and data centers.
  • Energy procurement knowledge and experience
  • Experience and interest in new technologies; ability to learn, vet and recommend new technologies for the benefit of the portfolio
  • Professional designations highly desired (LEED, BOMI preferred)
  • Experience presenting information to all levels of management.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, online software platforms, with the ability to use spreadsheets and data analysis applications.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
