The Director, of Treasury – Real Estate Banking Operations will report to the Treasurer and will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for treasury operations activities for our real estate property management verticals. The ideal person can work in a start-up environment. They have a depth of treasury, finance, and accounting knowledge; and can design processes, systems, and other tools around best practices. This person is an excellent leader with strong drive, decision-making, self-direction, influence, presentation, and verbal/written communication skills.


Responsibilities Include …

  • Develops and leads a high-performing, diverse team of career treasury individuals across multiple business units
  • Direct treasury/banking services around required complex real estate debt and equity structures, such as tenant rent collections, lockbox services, and controlled account agreements
  • Oversees and designs processes around high-volume cash management activities, including cash positioning, forecasting, short-term investments, pooled structures, intercompany transactions, opening, and closing bank accounts, treasury products and services, fraud prevention tools, signatory lists, and online bank systems
  • Navigates complicated AML/KYC compliance from internal and external inquires
  • Provide hands-on expertise and guidance for all technical bank and treasury system inquiries, including file transmissions such as positive pay, payments, and balance reporting (etc.) for domestic and international banking partners (BAI2, SWFIT, MT files)
  • Partners with other senior treasury leads to design treasury technology tools/processes/workflows
  • Oversee and maintain debt facilities, letters of credit, ACH and bank overdraft-type facilities ensuring full covenant compliance
  • Partners with Internal Audit and Technical Accounting to ensure all treasury activities are appropriately controlled, documented and disclosed, including SOX and SOC compliance, cash investments, debt facility activity, and other treasury items
  • Lead treasury projects and perform other duties as assigned in support of company value add objectives

What you should bring

  • Treasury Operations experience in a high-volume, multi-bank real estate and/or alternative private equity investment company
  • Ability to think creatively, innovate, and challenge the status quo
  • Strong people management skills; experience managing global/remote teams
  • Understanding of global treasury, banking and capital markets; and respective regulatory landscapes (AML/KYC etc)
  • Has technical knowledge of bank systems and treasury workstations (Kyriba ideal)
  • Experience using risk analytic and market rating tools such as Moody’s, Bloomberg etc
  • 12+ years of related Treasury or Finance experience
  • An advanced degree is required, a CTP, CFA, or CPA a plus!
